Troubleshooting RC36/RC38 Hollowform Forks
Brief guide to Troubleshooting Hollowform RC36 and RC38 models
RC36 Lockout/non-lockout
Problem; When in lockout mode, lever flicks back and turns itself off
Solution; Carefully tighten grub screw 1/8 turn (grub-screw alongside cable adjuster in lockout lever body)
Problem; Fork stays in lockout mode even with lockout lever turned off
Solution; 1) Cable too tight-wind cable adjuster in slightly. 2) Grasp wheel with feet and pull handlebars up so as to hyperextend fork.
If problem persists contact Pace Cycles
Problem; Fork feels to have stiction or has a judder under compression
Solution; 1) Clean and grease seals, stanchions and inside carbon slider, regrease. 2) Remove springstack, Check springs are all seated
in their guides. Also check end coil of mainsprings are not rubbing against inside of stanchion and polish/file back any burr which may
have developed.
Problem; Fork appears harsh when used in very wet conditions.
Solution; Clean and grease seals, stanchions and inside carbon slider. If problem persists contact Pace Cycles
RC38LT/Race
Problem; I can't seem to set up air cylinders correctly
Solution; Refer to Manual, Tuning section- 'To adjust sag on RC38'. Correctly adjusting sag is central to setting up air cylinders to
your weight.
Problem; Fork looses air from one or more cylinders (note; fork will loose air over a period of time and should be checked every 10rs riding)
Solution; 1) Fork may not be loosing air- problem may lie with pump. To check this fit pump to valve, pump cylinder to factory recommended
amount e.g 65psi, remove pump, then refit pump and check pump still registers 65psi. If pump registers 40psi for example, it can be seen pump
losses 25psi during removal. Pump fork to 90psi so it is now known cylinder is pressuried to 65psi when pump is removed.
2) Make sure schrader valve dust caps are in place and valve inside is clean. If valve could be dirty depress to remove air then use a
schrader valve removal tool to remove valve, carefully cleaning valve and seat inside valve body before refitting.
If problem persists contact Pace Cycles
Problem; Fork 'tops out' with a loud thud
Solution; Increase pressure slightly in cylinder 'C' and increase (SLOW) rebound damping
